The Fruit God is Looking For

Jesus said every branch in Him is supposed to bear fruit.

That matters because people often use the word “fruit” the wrong way. Sometimes people point to money, influence, power, platform, or visible success and say, “You will know them by their fruit.” Then those earthly things get used to excuse behavior that does not align with the Bible.

The fruit Jesus is talking about is the fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-25 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

God is not impressed by what we have. He is moved by how much He has us.

The fruit of the Spirit is the evidence that the life of Jesus is working in us. As we abide in the Vine, we become more like the Vine. His life begins to shape how we walk, how we talk, how we respond, how we think, and how we live.

This is why surrender matters.

When we accept and obey His words, the life of Christ begins to show up in our character. We begin to walk like Him. We begin to talk like Him. We begin to act like He would.

Fruit is not just what we produce for God. Fruit is what God produces in us as we remain in Him.

That is why Jesus says the branch cannot bear fruit by itself. A branch does not strain to produce grapes. A branch remains connected, and life flows from the vine into the branch.

God cares about your life so much that He wants to make you even more fruitful.

He is after real transformation. He wants love where there was selfishness. Peace where there was anxiety. Self-control where there were old passions and desires. Faithfulness where there was inconsistency.

Branches are supposed to bear fruit. Disciples remain in the Vine until His life becomes visible in theirs.
