We believe the church exists for the people outside its walls. Every week, our congregation shows up in the streets, parks, shelters, and neighborhoods of the Southern Tier — not to be seen, but because this is what love does.
These aren't programs — they're commitments. Most of these run every single week, year-round, powered by volunteers from our congregation who just want to show up for their neighbors.
Vans and a trailer go directly to the streets, the shelter, and motels — including the Coachman Motor Lodge, which houses families with young children. Full meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, first aid, and Narcan/fentanyl test strips. We connect people to EOP, Catholic Charities, and CASA-Trinity.
A trailer parked outside bars around 10 pm on Friday nights — hot dogs, chips, water, and prayer. We also offer safe rides home. Started in Hanover Square and now expanding to downtown Elmira.
Weekly giveaways at Arnot Mall, plus Grove Park in summer and response to fire-affected families and walk-ins in need. Donations come from our congregation, Old Navy (Horseheads), Carter's (Vestal), and the broader community.
A mobile coffee trailer that shows up where people are — a nursing home, an elementary school, Pine City yard sales, the Golden Glow Fire Dept. BBQ fundraiser, and the annual veterans' Troop Ride. No agenda other than being there.
Grilled lunches, clothing, household and hygiene products at Grove Park — plus a testimony and prayer. In a single afternoon we see single moms, homeless individuals, and people who've lost work all sitting at the same table.
Named after the passage where Jesus says "whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me." This weekly ministry puts that into practice — meeting tangible needs in the community every Wednesday afternoon without fail.
Most of these ministries run on volunteers from our church who give a few hours a week or month. If you want to show up for your community, there's a place for you.
